Momentum & pressure index.

Which side is gaining, and how much pressure is on the chasing team — quantified. Momentum is the swing in win-probability between two match states; pressure combines the required-rate gap with wickets lost. The signal an in-play trader watches for the exact moment a match turns.

1

Momentum delta

The change in chasing-team win-probability between two states — positive means the batting side is surging, negative means the bowling side is squeezing. Labelled into readable trends.

2

Pressure index

A 0-to-1 score combining how far the required rate exceeds a par chase rate with wickets lost — exactly how squeezed the chasing team is right now.

3

Before / after read

Both win-probability points that produced the swing, so the size and direction of the turn are explicit and auditable.

Where it comes from

Derived from a validated win model.

Trained on 4,683 real T20 matches from Cricsheet — free, legal, ball-by-ball — then validated on unseen matches. No fragile live-feed dependency; the intelligence is in the model.

Built on the chase model
Momentum is the derivative of the AUC-0.88 chase win-probability model — consistent with the live win-prob product.

Pressure formula
0.65 weighted on required-rate excess over par, 0.35 on wickets lost — a transparent, defensible score.

Questions

FAQ.

How is momentum computed?
As the change in the chasing team's win-probability between two match states, using the same model behind the chase win-probability product. A positive delta means the batting side gained.
What does the pressure index mean?
A 0-to-1 score: 0.65 weighted on how far the required run rate exceeds a par chase rate, 0.35 on wickets lost. Higher means the chasing team is more squeezed.
Is it real-time?
Yes — pass any two states (e.g. two consecutive overs) and it returns the swing between them per call.
What do I pass in?
The target, plus a 'prev' and 'curr' state (balls, wickets, runs each).
